Games
We have a variety of indoor and outdoor games available at the farm house including badminton, croquet, scrabble, jenga and a selection of puzzles, please come and ask us. Then if you are not worn out by the evening, or on rainy days, there is a pool table and table tennis table in a converted stable central to all the cottages.
Umngeni River
We are privileged to have 3km of the Umgeni River meandering through the farm. There are many picnic sites where visitors can spend lazy afternoons. The Umgeni used to be stocked with trout but now small-mouthed bass have taken over the river. They are still lots of fun to catch and there are plenty of them. Guests are most welcome to borrow either spinning or fly rods. In the Christmas holidays – rains permitting – the river transforms into mini rapids which are great for tubing. Tubes are kept at the farmhouse.
Farm Walks
The farm has walks to suit everyone. You can potter along the river and through the fields at your leisure, or put hiking boots on and head up into the hills behind the farm to enjoy incredible views of the Drakensburg Mountains from our favourite waterfall picnic spot.
Swimming Pool
The river is undoubtedly the favourite swimming spot but the farmhouse pool offers a convenient alternative. There is also a trampoline.
MTB Trails
The valley and surrounding forestry are a mountain biker’s dream. For the intrepid there are seriously demanding routes with steep inclines. For the more casual cyclist the river offers a more relaxing alternative. GPS routes are currently being developed.
Horse Riding
The horses are our passion and very experienced riders are most welcome to ride. For novices who would like a quiet hack we can recommend an excellent stable nearby. Small children are more than welcome to have a ride on a lead rein on one of our retired ponies.
